On the matter of phylologie

"philology, n." – Phylologie, loue of much babling.
–H. Cockeram, English Dictionary (1623)

Admittedly anachronistic, but funny nonetheless; 'philology' was understood as 'love of talk or argument' as per OED, rather than (broadly speaking) the 'study of literature'.
